MONEY MAGNATES: BUSINESS & SINDHIS

The correlation between Sindhis and business doesn`t need to be explained.  The ancestors of Sindhis have always been traders, so probably doing business is encoded in their genes.  Sindhis were reluctant to leave Sihndh but after partition consequently, they left Sindh by crossing the border.  They spread across the world and settled in the United States, Canada, England, China, the Middle East , and other countries, a major moved to India.
Sindhis have cereated a unique niche for themselves in the business world.  With some of the top businessmen like Hindujas, Hiranandanis, Rahejas, Motwanis, Jagtianis, and Virwanis to name a few, are part of the “Forbes List of Billionaires”  other Sindhis though not part of the billionaire list but are well established across the world.
The Sindhis are a lesson in perseverance.  Once uprooted, they started all over reinventing themselves. Settling in the post-partition period wasn`t easy for Sindhus, as they had left most of their possessions in Sindh. The unique attributes of the community can be the reason for their success in every field.
They belong to the whole world.  After partition wherever they settled, they made that place as their home.  They learned the local language and mingled with local culture easily.  They are scattered throughout India, with the same characteristic of mingling with locals.
The first thing you notice about aSindhi community is that they are one of the most hard- working communities.  No matter how rich they are, not matter how much wealth they have accumulated. There will always be someone or tghe other in the family who is hard working.

In the Sindhi community, you will hardly find anyone below the poverty line or living  in extreme poverty. They hav e a never give up attitude about life.  In tghe words of Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani, “You only see or hear about only successful things I do.  At any point in time, if I am successful at two things, may be I am failing at two other things.  You might never hear about my failures because they are not covered in Media.  The basic ingredient of success is to keep trying”.
Sindhis are a business- minded community.  It is more of the culture, they have been brought up in an environment where you listen about interest, profit, loss and investments etc. all the time. There is a small anecdote. A Sindhi migrant, who had no money, asked a wholesaler to lend him a bag full of Sugar,  to be sold near his shop.  The one quintal bag was priced at Rs. 300/- and he started selling it at Rs. 3/- kg.  He sold five bags and paid money to the wholesaler. Sindhi`s profit was cotton bags, which he sold for Rs. 5/- per bag, and earned Rs. 25.  Sindhis can see opportunies where most of us see none.
